Murder Victim. Angel Melendez was born in Colombia. His family moved to New York City in the early 1980's. He eventually became a member of the Club Kids. The group was a group of young clubgoers known for their outragous costumes and heavy use of ecstasy and heroin. Angel's trademark costume was a set of feathered wings. The group eventually became so famous that they made an appearnce in an episode of Geraldo Rivera's talk show. Melendez was murdered in his apartment by fellow Club Kids Michael Alig and Robert Riggs, as a result of a bad drug deal. After Alig and Riggs were sentenced to ten to twenty years for the murder, the incident was made into a movie "Party Monster" starring Wilson Cruz as Angel, and Macauly Culkin as his killer Michael Alig.
