Josephine Effinger Bowers Richards
Josephine Richards, 88, died March 10, 1997 in Susanville, CA.
Born May 8, 1908 in Zimmern U.D.B., Germany to Englebert Effinger and Catherine Banholzer Effinger. Came to the United States for the first time in 1926 and became a U.S. Citizen on October 5, 1934 in New Haven, CT.
Married Ralph E. Bowers, April 2, 1936 in Carson City, NV. Lived in Salt Lake City for 40 years and was very active in the White Shrine and Eastern Star during those years. Ralph Bowers died on September 14, 1974.
Moved to Fullerton, CA in 1976. Married John (aka Jack) Richards, owner/operator KOAL Radio, Price, UT on February 16, 1982 in Las Vegas, NV. They lived in Fullerton, CA. Jack Richards died on February 8, 1986. Josephine moved to Susanville, CA in November, 1996.
Survived by daughter, Carol Bowers (Lawrence) Johnston of Susanville, CA; son, Roger (Susan) Bowers of Arlington, TX; two grandchildren, Terri Johnston Bowerman of Virginia and L. Mark Johnston of Blythe, CA; four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the National Heart Association.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, March 13, in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1342 East 500 South at 11 a.m. Funeral directors, Evans & Early.
