On May 31, 1948 Betty married Jess Brown at Beaver, OK. After a short stay in Kansas they moved to South Dakota, bringing a sow with pigs in a one horse trailer and three horses on a flatbed pickup with wooden racks.
They rented a place north of Blunt for a few years and then moved to one south of Harrold.
In 1959 they purchased the ranch on Chapelle Creek where she lived the remainder of her life. After Jess died Betty,stayed on the ranch to raise the kids.
Later she ran the restaurant in the Capital Building and a catering business ,feeding highway patrol and police trainees at the DCI in Pierre.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Jess Brown; parents John and Nellie Frei; brothers Elva (Modene) Frei; Bethel (Katie) Frei; father and mother-in-law Charles and Mollie Brown; brother-in-law Charles Raymond (Theo) Brown; and sister-in-law Dorothy (Glen) Rackley.
