Ruby Ellen Bernardi, 93, a lifelong resident of Danville, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on Tuesday, December 01, 2015, surrounded by those that loved her the most. A celebration of Christian Mass will be at 10am on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 444 E. Main Street in Danville with Father Loftus officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 6th from 2-4pm at Pape Family Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville, with a rosary at 2pm. Following mass, Ruby will be laid to rest in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
Ruby was born on November 29, 1922 in Danville to William and Ida (Wilson) Cox. She attended Douglas Grade School through the eighth grade. Ruby worked throughout the years at ATI and Quaker Oats as an inspector. She was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church and formerly the Knights of Columbus. Ruby enjoyed fishing and camping, working in her flower garden, and watching television.
Ruby married Daniel Bernardi on November 9, 1953 at St. Patrick’s Church in Danville, and the two have shared over sixty-two years together. Survivors include her husband Dan; an adopted daughter Tabitha (James) Johnson; four adopted grandchildren: Destiny, Shahyina, Ravin, and Dahlia; two nieces: Sherry Erwin and Ann Bernardi; and five nephews” Frank (Tammy) Casey, Joseph Bernardi, Frank Bernardi, David Bernardi, and Daniel Bernardi. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Elsie Ritter, and a daughter Shirley McFarland.
