Daniel William Bernardi, 89, of Danville, passed away Monday, April 9, 2018, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, Urbana.

Daniel was born May 15, 1928 in Danville to Frank and Stella (Juergens) Bernardi.

He attended Glendmeir and St. Patrick schools. Daniel later worked at Danville High School in the business office and at Kraft Foods in Champaign as a machine operator. He was a longtime member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. In his spare time, Daniel could be found fishing, camping, bowling and playing cards.

On November 9, 1953, Daniel's life became complete when he married his soulmate, Ruby Cox. The two shared over 62 years together before her death in 2015.

Survivors include his nephews and nieces, Frank (Tammie) Casey, Pat (Beth) Casey, Joseph Bernardi, Frank Bernardi, David Bernardi, Daniel Bernardi, Ann Bernardi and Ramona (Marvin) Crawley; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruby; his daughter, Shirley McFarland; his sisters, Rose Bernardi, Margaret Forbes, Mary Ann Dawson, Martha Kneller and Marjorie Casey; his brothers, Francis Bernardi, Anthony Bernardi and Joseph Bernardi and nieces Sherry Ervin, Patsy Smiley, Peggy Cooper and Susie March.
