Ervin (June) Edwards, 46, of Hobart, IN former resident of Marion and Carterville, was killed some time Thursday evening in an auto accident. He was a nephew of Mrs. Lena Sims of 500 E. Thorn St. Marion, and was the son of the late Irwin and Ruby Owens Edwards and attended school in Carterville. He leaves his wife, Lavern and three children, and a sister, Mrs. Pauline Howerton of Hobart IN. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Wilson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday at the Wilson Memorial Chapel for Irvin Edwards Jr., 44, of McCool Rd, Portage IN who was killed in a construction accident near Hobart IN at 3:50 pm Thursday, September 26, 1963. A train hit the the Caterpillar tractor he was operating for the J.C. O'Connor Construction Co. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army as a private with the 715th Ordnance L.M. Co.
A former resident of Marion and Carterville, he was born in Carterville June 26, 1919, the son of the late Ervin McKinley Edwards Sr. and Ruby Mae Owens Edwards Westbrook. He leaves his wife, LaVerne, three sons, Eldon and Dennis of Portage IN and Charles at home; two daughters, Dolores of Washington, D.C., and Connie at home; a sister, Mrs. William Kelly, Brookfield IL and six grandchildren.
He was a member of the Operating Engineers and the American Legion of Portage IN. Friends may call at the funeral home. Officiating at the services will be Floyd Jent of Chester. Burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery.
