Michael Bathori, 105, died on Feb. 1, 2006, at Doylestown Health Care Center.

Michael (who was known to nearly everyone as ''Grandpa") was born in Dicso St. Marten, Hungary (now Tarnaveni, Romania), on July 8, 1900. He came to the U.S. and Akron in 1959, residing in Firestone Park until 1973, when he and his wife, Julia, built a home in Green. He lived on his own until he was 101. He had been a resident of Doylestown Health Care Center since November 2001.

Grandpa was a banker and a farmer while in the ''old country." After arriving in Akron, he worked at O'Neil's, retiring in 1965. He enjoyed painting, reading, and planting flowers and tomatoes in his yard.

He was married to Julia Bathori, who died in 1975. They had one son, Bill G. Bathori, who died in 1990. Grandpa is survived by his daughter-in-law; grandchildren. He is also survived by great-grandsons; sister; niece; great-nieces, and a great-nephew.

Interment will be at Rose Hill Burial Park.
