John Raines Jr., 79, of Rochester, died Monday in Genesee Hospital following a long illness. Born in Canandaigua, July 11 1887, he was the son of the late Postmaster John Raines and Caroline Stevenson Raines. He was a grandson of the late State Senator John Raines. A graduate of Canandaigua Academy and Albany Law School, he was associated for many years with his uncle George R. Raines in the law firm of Raines and Raines, Rochester. His wife, the former Helen V. Curtice died some years ago. Survivors are a son, John Raines IX, Rochester; a brother, Guy M. Raines of Canandaigua; two granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. Funeral, arrangements are incomplete.
