Mrs. Johanna Kobs died last Thursday night at 8:30 o’clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bertha Willer in Kaukauna, where she was taken Nov. 24, while suffering from a bad cold. The decedent was born in Germany August 27, 1849. In 1869 she came to America, and married the late Aug. Kobs, located at Marquette, Mich., where they resided about two years when they came to Wrightstown. They lived in the same house for 54 years always a homeowner.

The funeral was held from St. John’s Lutheran church of which she had been a member since its organization, Tuesday afternoon. Interment was in St. John Lutheran cemetery. Surviving are seven children, Bertha (Mrs. Albert Willer), Clara (Mrs. A. C. Meitner), Ida (Mrs. Roy Giebel), Freda (Mrs. W. Z. Cooper), Wade Kobs, De Pere, Fred C. Copes, Tomahawk, Wis. Aug Kobs, Coeur d” Alene, Idaho. All but August Kobs attended the funeral and he visited her in September. The church was filled with friends and relatives who followed the remains to their resting place. The spiritual and floral bouquets were many and beautiful, including gate ajar, anchor, harp, cross, heart, baskets and sprays, which had been sent from Spokane, Wash; Chicago, Coeur d” Alene, and offered by members of the family and other relatives and friends. The pallbearers were her sons and son- in- laws, Wade Kobs, Fred Copes, Albert Willer, Andrew Meitner, Albert Kobs and Albert Bauer. Special Music was furnished by Miss Lydia Helwig, the choir singing in German, “Let me go That I May See Jesus” The Rev. F. C. Uetzmann, who officiated at the funeral, spoke in German and English, and said in part; “But it was not for her good works alone that Mrs. Kobs was beloved. It was for her self. For the sincerity, the simplicity, the unaffected sweetness of her character, loving her friends more as the years moved on and to give back to life some of the happiness that she enjoyed in God’s beautiful world as all creatures were meant to do. Perhaps the most fitting tribute to her memory is the fact that those who know her best, loved her most.”
