J. Ralph Mower, 81, Kalispell, died in Kalispell Regional Hospital Sunday morning after a brief illness.
He was born February 28, 1902 in Oak Creek, Utah to Kimball and Rhoda Mower. He received his education in Fairview, Utah.
On January 9, 1923, he married Martha Lucille Roberts in Price, Utah.
He ranched from 1936 to 1947 at Arco, Idaho. In 1947 he moved his family to the Flathead where he engaged in ranching in Lower Valley until 1955.
In 1957 he moved to Hamilton where he worked for the Rocky Mountain Laboratory until his retirement in 1971. In 1972 he returned to the Flathead Valley. He and his wife made their home in the Evergreen area.
He was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife at the family home; four sons, Ralph Dwyane of Fortine, J. Elmo of Denver, Colorado; Arvin Tech and Kimball Jerome, both of Kalispell; two daughters, LaRane Sedgwick of Missoula and Opal Marie Parr of Kalispell; 28 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy Mower of Berekley, California, and two sisters, Mable Ford of Palestine, Texas and Bertha Madison of Pleasant Grove, Utah.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Arta Mower Blasdel
