A country belle eloped, Frank Culler employed by John Cronick, living in Mahoning County, as a hired servant, became sweet on one of Mr. Cronick's 3 daughters, the youngest, Mattie age 17; a few evening ago they eloped to Enon Valley, Pennsylvania and were legally married, she is now working out by the week to earn money to buy furniture.
Franks 3 Daughters never had children so there wasn't a 5th generation.
In the 1900 census Frank and his family were living in Berlin Township, Mahoning County, Ohio. Frank was listed as a farmer age 57 born April 1843 in Ohio, his wife Martha age 46 born February 1854 in Ohio, their children listed were: Lottie M. age 26 born December 1873 in Ohio and was listed as a school teacher, Bessie E. age 24 born May 1876 in Ohio and was listed as a school teacher also, and Pearl age 16 born January 1884 in Ohio.
His obituary in the Columbiana Ledger, November 29, 1928.
Many residents will remember Frank Culler a forer citizen of this place, who passed away at his home in Redondo, California, on November 16, having suffered a stroke of paralysis. Mr. Culler with his family resided on the Ad Shields farm, now occupied by Clyde Yarian of south of town. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Abraham Culler and was born near Elkton, 86 years ago. Mr. Culler was formerly in business having owned a meat market here. He left Columbiana about 20 years ago for California, with his family. Mrs. Culler formerly Martha Cronick, passed away about 18 months ago. His daughter, Miss Bessie, a former teacher here, with whom he has made his home and two other daughters, Mrs. Clayton Longworth of Pasadena, California; and Mrs. Pearl King of Berlin Center, survive. One brother, Benjamin of Elkton and one sister, Mrs. Samantha Garwood of Lisbon also survives. Mrs. Arthur Poller of Columbiana is a niece.
