His obituary in the Lisbon Journal, Thursday, January 18, 1917.

The body of John M. Culler, whose death occurred at Atwater on Tuesday, arrived here on the 11 o'clock Y. & O. car Thursday morning and was taken to Church Hill Church where funeral services were held at 1 o'clock, the Rev. G. W. Grate officiating. Interment was made in the cemetery there. Te deceased was 81 years of age and two years age suffered a stroke of paralysis from which he never fully recovered. He is survived by the following children:
Mrs. Neva Crawford and Ellsworth Culler, of Atwater; W. F. and Stanley Culler of Salem; Harry Culler of Lisbon; Mrs. Katherine Metz of Columbiana; James F. Culler of Louisville, Kentucky; and Walter Culler, of Wickersham, Washington. Two sisters Mrs. Samantha Garwood and Mrs. Eliza Walker both of Lisbon, and two brothers Benjamin, of Elkton and Frank of Needles, California, also survive.
