Olive (Byers) Sudden, 93, of Sycamore, Ill., died Thursday, Dec. 11, 2003, at DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center in DeKalb.
Born Nov. 11, 1910, in South Grove Township near Kirkland, she was the daughter of Asahel and Harriet (Driscoll) Byers. She married Delos Cudden on June 8, 1935, in Sycamore. She was a former executive secretary to the president of Wurlitzer Co. in DeKalb. She was a member of Sycamore United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Alice (Albert) Ratfield of DeKalb; three sons, David (Susan) Sudden of Genoa, James (Mary) Sudden of Addison and Michael Sudden of DeKalb; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Opal O'Neill and Margaret Larson, both of DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center, and Charlotte (Norman) Olson of Sycamore; a sister-in-law, Wanda Byers of Kirkland; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1988; two sisters, Louise Patten and Harriet Schoenburger; and two brothers, Robert Byers and Theodore Byers.
The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home. Interment will be at Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established for DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center in care of Quiram-Sycamore Funeral Home, 1245 Somonauk St., Sycamore, IL 60178.
