Mary Blair Abbott, 90, a resident of Shippensburg Health Care Center, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001 in the center.

Born Sept. 10, 1911 in Shippensburg, she was the daughter of the late John E. and Mary Leisher Blair and the widow of John M. Abbott, who died Dec. 18, 1995 after 49 years of marriage.

A 1929 graduate of Shippensburg High School and a 1932 graduate of the School of Nursing at Temple University, she was a 1st lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nurse Corps during World War II, stationed at Fort Indiantown Gap and Fort Dix, N.J. She later worked as a nurse at Temple University Hospital.

She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church, Shippensburg, and its Joybearers Sunday school class.

Mrs. Abbott is survived by a son, John B. of Enola, and several cousins.

Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Spring Hill Cemetery, Shippensburg, with the Rev. Bonnie B. Hoffman officiating. A graveside military service will be conducted by the Shippensburg VFW and American Legion.

Fogelsanger-Bricker Funeral Home,Shippensburg, is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Building 2, Suite 321, 2001 N. Front St., Harrisburg, PA 17102.
