Born in Provo, Utah to George Washington Bean and Mary Wall Bean. At age two his mother moved him to Sevier County eventually settling in Richfield. After finishing public school he attended Brigham Young Academy in Provo.

Married Leah Annie Bartlett in the Salt Lake Temple on May 22, 1895. Afterward, Virg taught school in Sevier County for five years. Called to an LDS mission in the southern states, he took all the family with him. Leah and the children stayed with her mother in Tennessee while Virg served in North Carolina and parts of Tennessee.

The family returned from the mission to live in Richfield, Utah. Virg was called to serve another mission in the Northwest serving in Montana and Washington in 1907.

Virg worked as a farmer and director on a Canal Company until he sold the farm and formed a road construction company. He built roads in Utah and Wyoming. When he sold the company he went to Las Vegas and started farming again. He was called to go to Palmyra, New York to manage the Hill Cumorah Farm for the LDS Church. His brother, Willard, was there managing and buying other LDS properties.

After four years the family moved to Altadena, California. When Leah died suddenly in 1947, Virg lost all interest in life. He died in 1949 at age 77.

Taken from a history written by Virgina B Larson, a daughter of Virginus Bean.
