Carl Eugene Moose, 53 years old retired painter of Statesville, died at 11:30 Thursday morning in Mountain Home, veteran's hospital in Johnson City, Tennessee. He had been a patient in the hospital for five years, suffering with a heart condition.
Born December 20, 1897, Mr. Moose was a son of the late Will Moose and Mrs. Nellie Moose of Statesville and was a veteran of World War I. On January 1, 1921, he married to Miss Versie Elder of Statesville and they established their home on Route 3, Statesville near the air port. Mrs. Moose survives and five children, Mrs. Duke Manuel of Statesville, Mrs. James Watt of route 3, Carl Eugene Moose, Jr., Misses Annie Mae and Lucile Moose of the home route 3. One brother survives J. D. Moose of Statesville, three half-brothers and three half-sisters; Dewey Moose of Iowa; William Moose of the U. S. Army, Thomas Moose, Mrs. Frances Bost, Mrs. Henry Dishman and Miss Violet Moose, all of Statesville. There are several grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Moose were held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon from the chapel of the Bunch Funeral home, Rev. Charles Jackson of Bethlehem Methodist church conducted the services and the interment was in the cemetery of the Bethlehem church.
