Had Been a Resident of Quincy
40 Years and of County
Sixty-Nine Years.
Mrs. Christina Abel, who was born in Germany August 31, 1840, and was therefore 73 years old, died at the home of her son, William Abel, 524 South Tenth street, at 10:30 o'clock this morning, her death being caused by a complication of diseases, due to old age, after residing in Quincy for 40 years.
Mrs. Abel had been a resident of Adams county since she was 4 years of age, coming direct to this county from Germany with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Grimmer, who became prominent residents of the county.
She was the widow of Henry Abel, who passed away in 1873 and for a number of years had made her home with her son, William. She was a woman of kindly disposition, ever thoughtful of the comfort of others, and was held in high esteem by many friends. She was a member of Salem church, and while her health permitted was a regular attendant.
Besides the son aforementioned, she leaves one daughter, Mrs. Charles Ebert, and another son, Henry Edward Abel of Centralia, Ill. One grandchild also survives.
