Abbie never married, but she did have a son which she kept & raised. Fred A Alexander was b Aug 1866, North Haven & d after 1940, Portland. He & Eldora M (Brown) Beverage, wife of Harrison Beverage, ran off together & married.
In the 1870 census, Abbie is living with her brother, William, her mother Betsey, and William's nephew (her son), Fred.
In 1880, 48-year-old Abbie is residing with her 83-year-old mother Betsy and her 53-year-old brother William. With them is Abbie's 13-year-old son, Fred.
The 1900 census confirms that Fred is Abigail's son.
