Joanne Abberger, 86 years old, a resident of Plymouth, IN, since 2006, passed away at 3:31 p.m. on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Plymouth.

Mrs. Abberger was born November 26, 1929 in South Bend, IN to the late Orville Dale and Bernice (Ritter) Harrison. On August 29, 1953, Joanne was united in marriage to Thomas J. Abberger, who preceded her in death on November 29, 2015.

Joanne is survived by one daughter, Sue Ann “Susie” (Mark) Redmond of Fremont, IN, and their children, Ryan (Raquel) Workman, Samantha Workman, Kyle (Abigail) Workman, and Chad Workman; son, Zane (Eileen) Abberger of Lakeview, MI, and their children, David (Danisse) Abberger and Carrie (Scott) Thomas; son, Thomas D. (Lisa) Abberger of Plymouth, IN and their children, Jenna Abberger and Shane Abberger; daughter-in-law, Ginger Abberger of Memphis, TN and her children, Amy (Dean) Running, Michael (Heather) Abberger, and Matthew (Libby) Abberger; sister, Nancy (Robert) Shelton of Greenville, SC and seventeen great grandchildren. Mrs. Abberger was preceded in death by her son, Joel Abberger; and two brothers, Jack and Tommy Harrison.

Joanne worked for 10 years as a Real Estate agent for Doolittle Realty and a few years with Coldwell Banker. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Plymouth. Joanne was an avid gardener and loved to landscape. During her younger years, she was a talented painter.

Funeral Services for Joanne will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Palmer Funeral Home – Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan Street, South Bend, IN 46614. Her son, Pastor Zane Abberger, will officiate. A private burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services at the funeral home on Saturday.

Contributions in memory of Mrs. Abberger may be made to Fairview Missionary Church, 525 E. 200 North, Angola, IN 46703.
