BHECHWORTH - On Friday Mr. Philip Thorley reached his 100th year. Born at Richmond, on the Hawksbury River (New South Wales) on 18th July, 1830 (His parents having been born
in Australia), he came to the Beechworth district 71 years ago, and settled down to mining pursuits at Stanley. His wife died thirty years ago. His living descendants number 150, including great and great-great-children, and in each of the five generations there is a Philip Thorley. (The Age Mon 21 Jul 1930 Page 10)

Within a few days of his 101st birthday, Mr Philip Thorley has died at Stanley. near Beechworth. (Weekly Times Sat 11 Jul 1931 Page 8)
