Janie Himes, age 81, of Gabbardtown, died Sunday, March 22, 2009 at the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond. She was born in Rockcastle County to the late John and Ann Baker Himes. Janie was of the Baptist faith and a homemaker.
She is survived by: her sister, Eva Montgomery Younger of Berea and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother and sisters, Luther Himes, Pearl Hayes, Etta B. Marcum, Nannie Rose and Marie McCracken.
Funeral services for Janie will be 1:00 p. m. Tuesday at the Davis & Powell Funeral Home with Bro. Roy Himes officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnetta Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
