Robert J. Salta, age 84, of 7128 Hwy. O, Two Rivers, died Tuesday night, January 26, 2016 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, following congestive heart failure. Robert was born February 12, 1931, in the town of Cooperstown, son of the late Edward and Anna (Decker) Salta, Sr. At the age of 17, Bob entered the U.S. Army and served his country from Nov. 9, 1948 until July 23, 1952 during the Korean War. On April 25, 1953, he married Marilyn A. Kimmes at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Rev. John Schmitt presided. The couple was blessed with 62 years of marriage.Bob was employed with Mirro Aluminum Co. for 16 years and then began working for the Point Beach Nuclear Plant in Two Creeks where he worked for the next 25 years, retiring in 1995. After retiring, Bob also continued to work part-time for 20 years with Bank First National as a courier driver. Between the nuclear plant job and the bank job, Bob would comment that these were the two best jobs a person could have, and enjoyed all the people he worked with. Over the years, Bob and Marilyn also enjoyed catering for many parties, anniversaries, weddings, and special occasions. Bob loved cutting wood and selling it to the many campers who passed thru on their way to Point Beach State Park. He also enjoyed hunting, playing cards, reading and gardening; and was an avid bowler in his younger days.Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Marilyn; two daughters, Dawn M. Salta of Milwaukee, and Lisa Haser-Salta of Virginia Beach; one sister, Dorothy Nichols; and one sister-in-law, Carol Kimmes, both of Two Rivers; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph M. and Amy E. (Schroeder) Kimmes; three brothers, Edward Jr., Roman, and Pauly Salta; one sister, Violet Robinson; and brothers-in-law: Robert Nichols, Arthur (Kathleen) Kimmes, Roger (Jean) Kimmes, and Matthew Kimmes.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St. Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Wm. G. O'Brien, with entombment to follow in Knollwood Chapel Mausoleum, Hwy. 310, Manitowoc.
