$18,000 Fire at Carleton Place.
Carleton Place, Sept. 11. - Fire broke out in the saw mill belonging to Mr. Robert Prestley, of Ashton, on Saturday morning, and resulted in the destruction of the mill, lumber yard and Mr. Prestley's house and barns. How the fire originated is a mystery. It had gained great headway before the alarm was given, and though everything possible was then done to save the other buildings, the fire soon spread from one to the other till all were consumed. The loss is estimated at $18,000. No insurance.
