Tulia, Texas—Emily McAnally Morris, 92, died Sunday, January 31, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2016
in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Karan Young officiating and assisted by Rev. Ernie McGaughey. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery
under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.
Emily McAnally was born near Hico, Texas, Erath County on August 29, 1923 to James Monroe and Lela Leeth McAnally. She grew up near Slaton in Wilson
and later in Post, Texas where she met Orville V. Morris, the love of her life. They married on 11 May I940 in Post. Her life was that of a farmer's wife. She helped
during harvest driving trucks to the elevator and cooking hot meals to take to the field. She took care of the home, sewing curtains and making dresses for the girls.
Her hobbies were decorating, painting, reading lots of books and at some time, everything in the house was decoupage or antiqued. Writing and poetry were her
passion and it will take months to read all her writings. She wrote her memories of her 9 siblings. She was a lifetime member of the Methodist Church.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law: Joe Don and Peggy Morris of Canyon, two daughters and one son-in-law: Sheran and T.L. "Chick" Childress
of Tulia and Orvilla Tucker of Kingsland, Texas, her brother: Jack McAnally of Brownwood, Texas, seven grandchildren: Tanya Tucker, Brad Childress,
Tami DeBusk, Trent Tucker, Darren Morris, Vance Morris and Cliff Morris and eight great grandchildren: Travis Tucker, Brandon McLean, Braden Childress,
Dylan Childress, Ashlyn DeBusk, Brock DeBusk, Maddox Morris and Anderson Morris.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 119 N. Briscoe, Tulia, Texas 79088.
