PLAINVIEW (Special) - Services for Kathryn Benefield, 83, of Lubbock will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Plainview with the Rev. R.L. Kirk of Pampa and the Rev. Max Browning, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park under direction of Wood-Dunning Funeral Home of Plainview.

She died Saturday, Jan. 18, 1997, at University Medical Center in Lubbock.

She was born Dec. 20, 1913, in Erath County. She moved to Plainview in 1932, and she moved to Lubbock in 1993. She married James Fred Benefield on Feb. 10, 1934, in Plainview, and he died Jan. 11, 1969. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She was a homemaker. A daughter, Freda Rene Benefield, died Feb. 3, 1970.

Survivors include two sons, Koy of Lubbock and Tim of Austin; a daughter, Janet Mercer of Lubbock; two brothers, Bill McAnally of Yucaipa, Calif., and Jack McAnally of Plainview; five sisters, Inez Hancock of San Diego, Calif., Cleo Russell of Vallejo, Calif., Luthene Landtroop of Plainview, Emily Morris of Tulia and Pauline McBrearty of Sun Valley, Nev.; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and two great-grandsons.

Memorials are suggested to Wesley Bible Class of First United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
