Son of William W. Duesler and Anna Snell

Married Louisa C. Scott, 1 January 1866, Thompson, Geauga, Ohio. Children - Carrie Duesler Hanks, Duane William Duesler.

Married Catharine "Kate" Ehle, 28 December 1892, New York. Son - Warren W Duesler.

History - Eli was born July 1, 1842 in Ephratah, NY, the second child of William W. and Anna Duesler. He had half brothers George & Cornelius, and half sisters Mary & Sarah, and two sisters Mary & Nancy.

He was in the 1850 and 1860 Ephratah, NY census as a child with his father and stepmother Harriet. He was in the 1870 thru 1920 Madison, OH census.

He moved to Thompson, Lake Co, OH sometime in the early 1860's. He married Louisa C. Scott on January 1, 1866 in Thompson, OH.

Eli served in Civil War as Pvt in Co D, 2nd Ohio Regiment from August 13, 1864 to June 16, 1865.

They had three children that are known born between 1868 and 1880, Carrie, Wayne and Nancy. He and Louisa had been married 24 years when she died on January 11, 1890 in Madison.

Eli then married Catherine Ehle, who was from Ft. Plain, NY on December 28, 1892. She was born July 8, 1841 and died nine years after they married on September 2, 1901 in Madison, OH. She was returned to Ft. Plain, NY to be buried.

Eli was 78 when he died February 5, 1920 in Madison, OH. He had been living with his daughter and son-in-law Carrie & Fred Hanks, a mile and a half west of Madison, OH. He is buried in Fairview Cemetery in Madison, OH.

Obituary - Funeral Services for Eli Duesler Held Yesterday

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon for Mr. Eli Duesler, who passed away Monday, at the age of 75 years at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Hanks, a mile and a half west of Madison. Mr. Duesler was for many years a resident of Madison township and was highly respected.

Will: I, William W. Duesler of the town of Ephratah, in the County of Fulton, N. Y. being of Sound mind and memory, do make, ordain, publish and declare this to be my Last Will and Testament, that is to say

First – after all my lawful debts are paid and discharged, I give, devise and bequeath unto Mary Staley, wife of William Stahley all my real estate consisting of four acres and one half be the same more or less & located in the town of Palatine, Montgomery County, New York and bounded on the west by lands of Jacob H. Saltsman, on the north by lands of John P. Whitlock, on the east by lands of Henry Sponable, on the south by Garoga Lake and the New Road leading from Ephratah village to Ft. Plain.

Second – I give and devise all my personal property, consisting of bedding, also my clothes and the two notes I now hold against my son-in-law John Parris the one of ($100.) One Hundred Dollars, the other of ($50.) Fifty Dollars together with the interest due thereon.

Third – I reserve the right of selling said real estate and collecting said notes and if any money remain the sum shall belong to Mary Stahley after all my funeral expenses are paid.

Fourth – I give and devise the house known and now occupied by Ambrose Nellis which I bought of John P. Whitlock and which he is to move on said real estate above mentioned to the said Mary Stahly.

Likewise, I make, constitute and appoint Alpha Nellis of Ephratah village Fulton Co., New York to be executor of this, my Last Will and Testament, hereby revoking all former Wills by me made.

In Witness Whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed my seal the seventh day of November in the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety one.
