Alexander Muir, 84, died unexpectedly Friday at his home in Margaretville.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Herrick funeral home, with Rev. William Harter, pastor of the Margaretville United Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial is in the Andes cemetery.
Survivors of Mr. Muir are seven of his nine sisters, Mrs. Jessie Lunn and Mrs. Emma Sanford of Margaretville, Mrs. Delia Behlen of Ramsey, N. J., Mrs. Jeanette Sassani of Binghamton, Mrs. Mary Kimball of Arkville, Mrs. Marjorie Trauerts of Binghamton and Mrs. Everett Close of Andes.
Mr. Muir was born Oct. 23, 1885, in Andes, the son of Charles and Margaret Davis Muir. He never married.
Although - a deaf-mute, Mr. Muir was active until the day before his death. He was an inveterate whittler and was seldom seen without scraps of wood under his arm to supply his pastime.
