William was born on January 13, 1931, and passed away on the evening of Friday, May 31, 2013. He was an active member of Shreveport Community Church and a retiree of Western Paper Company. William valued his family, church, and friends, but had many other accomplishments to be proud of too. He was an avid baseball fan. In his younger years, he was an outstanding baseball player with certificates from the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues and American Legion Junior Baseball to prove it. He was even considered for the New York Yankees as pitcher. William was an even bigger asset to his community, volunteering at the local hospitals, the Mike Barber Prison Ministry, and his church. He was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and loyal friend. William will be deeply missed.
William was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mittie (Galloway) Greene, and his parents, Dallas Wharton Greene, Sr. and Eunice (Lester) Greene. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Bill Greene, Jr.; daughter, Darla G. Westall and husband, Darold; brothers, Dallas W. Greene, Jr. and Bobbie L. Greene; sister, Delores Evans; five grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Honoring Mr. Greene as pallbearers are, Bill Greene, Jr., Darold Westall, Daniel Westall, Douglas Westall, Ricky Greene, Jeff Williamson, Mike Melancon, Roydale Evans, and Bill Greene, III.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shreveport Community Church or to the charity of choice.
