Cardinal, Bishop of Constance and Brixen, Margrave of Burgau. The oldest child of Archduke Ferdinand of Tyrol and his morganatic wife Philippine Welser. He was supposedly an orphan found on the steps of Březnice castle and taken in by Philippine Welser. His parents' wedding in the previous year was still a secret. Only in 1561, the emperor was informed. He was not happy but accepted the marriage under the condition of secrecy. Only in 1576 when Pope Gregory XIII named Andreas cardinal the marriage and the children's legitimate status became known.
