John Nylander, 77, of Rio Dell, died this morning in his home. He was born in Lovisa, Finland on March 31, 1883, and had lived in Humboldt County since 1906. Prior to his retirement he was a chopper for the Hammond Lumber Company. He was a member of the Runeberg Lodge 102 of Eureka.
He is survived by a son, Uno Nyland, of Rio Dell; sisters, Hilma Anderson of Eureka and Karen Jaakola of Niinikokes, Finland; grandchildren, Allen and John Nylander of Rio Dell and Mrs. James Walker of Ferndale; a great-granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Walker of Ferndale, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at Sander's Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy K. Malde officiating. Concluding services, under the auspices of the Runeberg Lodge 102, will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
