She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 15, 1921 to Eula and William Mummert, and moved to Corpus Christi when she was 11 years old, where she graduated from Corpus Christi High School. She married Charlie Cecil Horne on August 4, 1940 and remained faithful to him for their 50-year marriage until his death in 1991. Alberta loved the Lord and was instrumental in bringing all of her children to faith in Christ. This, we believe, is her greatest legacy. Her prayers have laid the fountain for a Godly, heritage in her children and grandchildren. She was a full time mother and especially creative in the areas of cooking and gardening. She will be remembered for her gentle, quiet spirit, and her many labors of love.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Mummert, her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her sister, Eileen Penland of Houston, Texas; her children; of Austin, Texas, of Corpus Christi, Texas, of Bellville, Texas and of Corpus Christi, Texas. She is also survived by her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at the home of Kay and Jim Hines on Sunday, January 9.
Funeral Services will be at Faith Temple on Monday, January 10, 2005 with Pastor Richard Malm officiating.
Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship of the Coastal Bend or Ravi Zacharias International Ministries.
