Mrs. Bennett enjoyed her family, her church, and working in her flowers and yard. She worked in retail sales at the Fabric Center and B.C. Moore's . She loved her church family and was an active member of Douglas Presbyterian Church until poor health prevented her attendance. She was presented the Legacy Award for her church and was a Life Member of the Presbyterian Women. She was an active circle member and for years did the devotionals for the Fellowship of the Least Coin. She taught Junior Sunday School Class for years and also sang in the choir. She loved God and did her best to serve and honor Him daily.
Mrs. Bennett is survived by her children, Graham Bennett and his wife Brenda of West Tawakoni, TX and Barbara B. Gardner of Lancaster; three grandchildren, Claudia Deanne Gibson and fiancée, Jeff Davis; Bernay Johnson and husband Tom; Jonathan Gardner and his wife Aimee; eight great-grandchildren, Kristopher and Zachary Gibson, Brandon, Matthew and Garrett Johnson, Faith and Eveie Kelley and Robbie Gardner; sister-in-law, Mrs. Alice (Deet) Elliott and many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by her sisters, Helen Dawson, Euphemia Graham and Elizabeth Walters.
The Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Bennett will be held at Douglas Presbyterian Church, Monday, February 29, 2016 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon and will be conducted by Rev. Dr. G. Harriss Ricks. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends in the fellowship hall following the burial.
