Annabelle Hughes Dovel, 80, of McGaheysville, passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Sentara RMH Medical Center.
Annabelle was born June 16, 1935 in Page County, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late James Richard and Carrie Ruleman Hughes.
Annabelle attended Landmark Tabernacle Church in McGaheysville. She had a giving heart and opened her home to many children for foster care and babysitting.
On December 23, 1954, she married Elwood Dovel, who preceded her in death in 1993. Besides her parents and husband Annabelle is also preceded in death by her eight older siblings, Aubrey, Everett, Owen and Lee Hughes, Lillian Brill, Elsie Christian, Marna Hensley and Frances Comer.
She is survived by her son, Anthony "Tony" E. Dovel and wife, Anita "Missy" and very special granddaughter Mackenzie Taylor Dovel and numerous, nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30pm on Saturday, March 5, 2016, at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens in Harrisonburg with the Rev. L. Keith Powers officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6pm-8pm on Friday evening at the Dovel home in McGaheysville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Landmark Missions, P.O. Box 115, McGaheysville, VA 22840.
