~A Dog's Plea ~
"My friend, when I am very old and I no longer enjoy good health, hearing and sight, do not make heroic efforts to keep me going. I am not having any fun. Please see to it that my life is taken gently. I shall leave this Earth knowing with the last breath I draw that my fate was always safest in your hands."
(given to me by my dear friend Donna, F.A.G. ~ thanks, Donna.)

This was sent from my wonderful friend, Gigi in Canada:

My Gift To Jesus"

I wish someone had given little Jesus a dog
As loyal and loving as mine,
To sleep by His manger and gaze into his eyes
And adore Him for being divine.

As Our Lord grew to manhood, His own faithful dog
would have followed Him all through the day,
While He preached to the crowd, and made the sick well
And knelt in the garden to pray.

It's sad to remember that Christ went away,
to face death, alone and apart,
With no tender dog following closely behind
To comfort its master's heart.

And when Jesus rose on that Easter morn,
How happy He would have been,
As His dog licked his hand, and barked it's delight
For the one who died for all men.

Well, the Lord has a dog now, I just sent him mine,
My old pal so dear to me,
And I smile through my tears on this first day alone
Knowing they're in Eternity.

I found Pup-Pup on a very cold day in February 1996. She was trying to enter the revolving door at the entrance of my workplace. She was thin, no collar on, and very hungry. I volunteered for an animal organization a the time and worked with the President. She asked me to take the dog to our veterinarian in a cab. Never being around a pit bull before, I was a bit frightened. We sat in the back and I told her, "it's ok, Pup-Pup, you'll be all right." The vet had her spayed, gave her her shots and she was adopted, only to be returned as she had "food issues" with her new owner's other dog. My friend Sue called me and told me how well the dog got along with cats (of which I had my share). I told her I'd take Pup-Pup on a trial basis. I had her eleven years.
She loved everyone. Never growled at anyone, always brought her toys out to show everyone, and was there to slap a big kiss on your face or jump on your lap - all 70 pounds of her.
She started developing gliomas (tumors) a few years ago. She had a few operations, but they seemed to grow as soon as they were removed.
In May of 2006, she started whining and wanting to go out a lot. The vet thought she may have a urinary tract infection and after antibiotic therapy, she was herself for about three months. Gradually, I noticed her stomach becoming distended. She was still eating, barking, going out, but something just wasn't right. I thought perhaps she had congestive heart failure.
Luckily, my vet makes house calls. He said the external tumors were now definitely growing inside and to give her dignity, we should put her down. So, with great sadness, she was euthanized in my arms on Thursday, September 28, 2006.

She will be eternally missed and loved by her mommy and daddy and all her kitty friends, especially her "baby", Itty Bit. Itty Bit is a black cat (see pic) and was Pup-Pup's best friend.
