Frances R. Peterson, 86, passed on Dec. 16, 2013 in Bremerton. She was born Nov. 16, 1927 to Wm and Ruby Morgan.

Frances spent her life in Allyn, except for a short time in Seabeck. In 1945, she graduated at Irene S.Reed, Shelton. She was employed at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, then retiring from the Allyn Post Office as assistant postmaster and worked many years as a part-time oyster shucker for Sargent's Oyster Company.

She was married to Leonard (Pete) Peterson on May 26, 1951 until his passing in 1993.

She was a member of the Allyn Birthday Club that was initiated by her grandmother in early 1940, Order of Eastern Star, Chapter #241, Lion's Club, Allyn Historical Church, Victor Community Club, and Allyn Community Association. She enjoyed knitting, needle point, cooking, baking and pinochle.

On a December trip to Solvang, Calif. in the 1970s, they were introduced to the Giving Tree. Therefore the first Giving Tree in North Mason was placed at the old Puget Sound National Bank.

She was preceded in death by brother, Jack Morgan; and sister, Shirley Anderson. She is survived by sister, Gloria Crawford (Ken) of Port Ludlow; son, John Peterson (Sharon) of Allyn; daughter, Cheri Brignon (Larry) of Nasell; son, Randy Peterson of San Luis Obispo, Calif; two granddaughters, numerous great-grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial service is Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at 12:30 p.m. at North Bay Lutheran Church, Allyn.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Allyn Community Association, P.O. Box 52, Allyn, WA 98524 for the Playground Project.
