White Pynes was born in Darlington, SC., the 5th of Daniel Pynes and Rutha Knotts Pynes six children. White moved with his family to Laurens Co., GA and later to Henry Co., AL in 1818. He was a farmer and served as a Circuit Court Judge. He married Sarah Gilmore Lewis August 26, 1836 in Henry Co., AL. They were parents of seven children. Their three sons, Hamilton, James and Lewis served with the CSA in the Civil War. Hamilton and Lewis died during the war. James was wounded at Berryville but survived. After the war, White continued to farm his plantation until his death in 1882.
