During King Phillip's War, the town of Lancaster, Mass. was taken 10 Feb. 1675/6, and most of the property destroyed by the Indians. Two sons of Jacob FARRAR, Sr. lost their lives in this war. The "Humble Petition of the distressed people of Lancaster" to the Government for assistance, in this emergency, dated March 11, 1675/76, is now on record in the Secretary's Office. It is signed by Jacob FARRAR, John HOUGHTON, sen., John MOOR, John WHITCOMB, John PRESCOTT, John HOUGHTON, Jr., Thomas SAWYER, Thomas WILDER, and others, nineteen in all.

After the death of two of his son's in King Phillip's War, Jacob FARRAR, Sr. with his wife, his remaining son Joseph, and his daughter with her husband, John HOUGHTON, went to Woburn, Mass., where he died 14 August 1677. Holman, Alfred L. BLACKMAN AND ALLIED FAMILIES (1928), pp.66-67,86.

Hannah FARRAR, widow of Jacob FARRAR, Jr., took administration of his estate 3 October 1677, and at the same time returned an inventory, dated 27th 7th mo. 1677. She then took the children to Concord.

In 1678. Lieut. John WYMAN was appointed guardian of Joseph FARRAR, son of Jacob FARRAR, Sr., deceased. The widow, Ann FARRAR, and her son-in-law, John HOUGHTON, were appointed Administrators of her husband's estate, which was divided between the widow, the "two children now surviving," who must have been Mary and Joseph, and the children of his son, Jacob FARRAR. John HOUGHTON filed his administration bond, 27 March 1682, and John SEARS was his surety. NEW ENGLAND GENEALOGICAL REGISTER, v.16, p.320-326.

On 6 October 1697, Jacob, George, John, and Henry FARRAR, sons of Jacob FARRAR (1643c.-1675) united in a deed of all the real estate in Lancaster, inherited from their grandfather Jacob, to their uncle, John HOUGHTON.
