EARLENE ABDON, age 80, of Mount Gilead, died Saturday afternoon March 19, 2016 at Woodside Village in Mount Gilead.

She was born on April 2, 1935 in Kentucky to the late Roy and Dovie (Ramsey) Barnhill.

Earlene was described as a feisty Irish lady who loved her family greatly. Earlene loved time with her family especially at holiday time. She enjoyed crocheting, making baby blankets for members of her daughter’s church. Earlene also spent time playing the organ, reading books (especially her favorite Danielle Steele), playing canasta, shopping at Walmart, and watching her favorite movie, Dirty Dancing.

During her stay at Woodside Village she deeply loved and cared for by the staff.

She is survived by son: Gary (Crystal) Abdon of Cardington; daughters: Lonajean Tate of Apple Valley, Debbie (Jeff) Scott of Galloway; grandchildren: Malkia, Jeremisha, Valerie, Tiffany, Jessica, Gary II, Amanda; 12 great-grandchildren; a niece whom she thought of as a sister: Sue Huerta.

Preceded in death by her husband: Gene F. Abdon on July 31, 2008; son-in-law: Ken Tate on January 10, 2014, Chuck Casperson; 1 brother and 5 sisters.

Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the DeVore-Snyder Funeral Home, SR 3 at 61, Sunbury where funeral services will be held Thursday 11 a.m. with Celebrant Don Lockwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Sunset Cemetery.
