Coaltown was a bay Thoroughbred racehorse whose stellar career led to his induction in the United States Thoroughbred Racing Hall of Fame. Bred and raced by Warren Wright's Calumet Farm of Lexington, Kentucky, Coaltown was a three-time U.S. Champion including 1949 United States Horse of the Year honors. Blood-Horse magazine selected him as #47 on their list of the top racehorses of the entire 20th Century. Coaltown was retired from racing after the 1951 season and stood at stud at Calumet Farm until 1955 when he was sold to Marcel Boussac's Haras de Jardy France where he died at age 20 in 1965.
