Obituary for Bernard Bailey

Mr. Bernard Odell Bailey, 84, of Elberton, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014, at Spring Valley Health Care Center.

Mr. Bailey was born in Long Branch, West Virginia on June 8, 1929, to the late Arlie Bailey and Ivory Shepard Bailey. He was of the Baptist faith and was a crane operator and a truck driver in the granite industry.

Surviving are his children, Angela Rose Rice of Augusta, Theia Mannfree Rice of Augusta, Laura Lee Mauzy of Louisville, Kentucky, Ricky Odell Bailey of Pace, Florida, Allen Lamar Bailey of Jacksonville, Florida, and Steven Earl Bailey of Valdosta; brother, Harold Bailey of Dewy Rose; sister, Lorena Kidd of Carlton; seventeen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by sisters, Edna Marie Hamilton and Eva Pauline White.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Thursday, January 9, at 1:30p.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Leon Suttles officiating. Interment will follow in Carlton City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Berry Funeral Home from 1-1:30p.m. prior to the service on Thursday.
