Barbara Galvin, 78, of Plymouth, formerly of Wrentham and Harwich, passed peacefully on March 20, 2016 in the Pat Roche Hospice House, Hingham. She was the beloved wife of the late William T. Galvin, Jr. who passed in 2002.
Born in Boston on December 9, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Douglas and Eva Mae (Harris) Bennett. Barbara was raised in Foxboro and was a graduate of Cushing Academy. She co-owned and operated Rainbow’s End gift shop in Wrentham Center for many years. She was a longtime member and past president of the Holly Club. She enjoyed theater, travel, and spending time on Cape Cod.
Barbara is survived by a daughter; Cynthia Galvin of Weymouth, a son; Stephen Galvin of Rockport, Maine, a granddaughter; Angela Galvin Drinkwater, and was step-grandmother to Andrew Whalen of Duxbury. She was the sister of the late Gordon Bennett. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews, as well as other extended family members and many friends.
Visiting hours will be held in the RJ Ross Funeral Home, 135 South Street, Wrentham followed by a funeral service in the Original Congregational Church of Wrentham, 1 East Street, Wrentham. Burial will follow in Wrentham Center Cemetery, Wrentham MA.
