Ione M. Steeber, age 80 of Kellnersville, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday morning, March 25, 2016.

Ione was born May 6, 1935 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Richard and Clara (Kasten) Bauer. She was a 1952 graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School. Following high school Ione worked at the Manitowoc Shipyards. On May 14, 1955 Ione was married to Russell M. Steeber at St. Andrew Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Russell preceded her in death on December 17, 2013. Russell and Ione along with Russell’s brother, Dick and his wife Evie, co-owned and operated Steeber’s Store in Kellnersville from 1955 until their retirement in 1992. In the past Ione was active in St. Joseph’s School and Parent Teacher’s Association, Kellnersville 4-H, the Boy Scouts, the St. Joseph’s Rosary Society, Kellnersville Betterment Association and the VFW Auxiliary.

Ione will be remembered for her love of family and friends. Steeber's hosted Christmas by having Santa at their home for the local children. She enjoyed ceramics, crafting and cooking.

Survivors include her three children: 1) Beverly (Tim) Lewis, Waupaca; and their children: Jesse (Mary) Lewis, Milwaukee; Taylor Lewis, La Crosse; and her fiancé: Zach Corbett; 2) Russell (Lauri) Steeber, Janesville; and their children: Aimee Thomas and John Haney, Janesville; and great grandchildren: Carter and Grace; Molly (Chad) Ellerston, Kenosha; and great grandchildren: Kai and Ellias; Sean (Stacey) Scannell, Madison; and great grandson: Sean; Beth Steeber, Janesville; 3) Scott Steeber, Janesville; and his fiancée: Carmin Stoikes and her children: Tyler, Morgan, Hannah and Grace; one sister and brother-in-law: Pat (Stan) Hollen, Manitowoc; five sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Germaine Bauer, Manitowoc; Glenda Bauer, ID; Evie Steeber, Kellnersville; Jeannette Zeman, Kellnersville; Carol Mae (Erv) Lambert, Mishicot, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Richard and Clara Bauer; her step-mother: Amanda Bauer; her husband: Russell M. Steeber; one foster daughter: Donna Denor; two sisters, Lucille Bauer, Mildred Bonin; two brothers, Richard Bauer; Joe Bauer; four brothers-in-law: Ralph Bonin; Richard Steeber; Donald Steeber; Frank Zeman; and one sister-in-law, Millie Steeber.

A Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 1, 2016 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Kellnersville. Sr. Gerri Krautkramer will officiate with entombment of her cremated remains to follow in the Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc.
