Joe H. Abney, 88, widower of Thelma Abney, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017, at Saint Joseph Hospital in Lexington, KY. A native of Clark County, Kentucky, he was born on March 16, 1929, to the late Joe and Mary Abney. He was a retired furniture maker, a Baptist and a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Sue Martin; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason Martin; sister, Mary Layne; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary L. Martin.

Services will be at 10:00AM, Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Scobee Funeral Home. Burial will be in Clarmont Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 9:00AM until time of service.

Memorial contributions to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Drive, Lexington, KY 40504.

Parents were "Joseph S Abney Jr (1893 - 1963) & Mary Elizabeth Dawes (1895 - 1969)and they are buried in the Winchester Cemetery
