Born in Coward, SC he was a son of the late James Calvin and Mamie Algeria Coward Anderson. He was a member of the Williston First Baptist Church where he had served as a Deacon and was a member of the Bethel Sunday School Class. Mr. Anderson graduated from high school in Manning, SC, attended the University of South Carolina and moved to Williston in 1952. He worked for E.I. DuPont at the Savannah River Plant for 17 years. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer W4 with 42 years of service in the Army Reserve and Civil Service as an Army Reserve Technician for 20 years. He was member and Past Master of Hope Masonic Lodge #126, a Scottish Rite Mason and a Shriner. He was a PDDGM of the 5th Masonic District and a MSA committee man for the 4th, 5th and 7th masonic districts.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Sylvia Ann Lee Anderson, of the home; son, Gary (Susan Wallace) Anderson of Aiken, SC; daughters, Sharon A. (Benjamin) Williams of North , Anne A. (Rodney) Pruitt of Williston; grandchildren, Jill, Paul, Martha, Erin, Megan, Lindsey, Michael, Jennifer and Stephen; great grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Brandon, Zachary, Cameron, Riley, MJ, Abigail and Mila. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Vennie Thibodeau, Ruby Cole and Elma Backus; brothers, Ralph and Allen Anderson.
