Swedish officer. His original name was Karl Edvard. As an extramarital son of King Frederick, he became a Swedish count the year after his birth and had Imperial Princely status through his mother's elevation in 1743. She was the king's official mistress. He was also made a Hessian colonel in 1745, and in 1747 a Swedish colonel and head of the Garnison Regiment of Gothenburg which he was until his death. He was a major general 1759, lieutenant general in 1765, and received the Orders of the Sword 1748 and Seraphim 1762. He was living in Germany, but visiting Paris when he died. The only known picture of him is as a boy.
