John Pfister, 68, of 1212 St. Clair Ave., a retired Kohler Co. employe, died in the city ambulance Friday while being taken to St. Nicholas Hospital.
According to police records, Mr. Pfister was walking to the home of a friend when he was stricken with a heart attack in the 1200 block of N. 11th St. Dr. Reed M. Simpson, county coroner, said he was dead upon arrival at the hospital.
A son of the late John and Catherine Pfister, the deceased was born in Urbach, Russia, Feb. 26, 1886. He married the former Sophia Pfister there, June 12, 1905, and the couple came to Sheboygan in 1909. Mr. Pfister had been employed by Kohler Co. for 35 years prior to his retirement in 1952.
His first wife died on Nov. 7, 1949, following which he married Mrs. Anna Schmidt of Sheboygan, May, 13, 1950
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church here, the Volga Aid Men's Society and the Ebenezer Sick Benefit Society.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, Gottlieb of Sheboygan and Henry of Beaumont, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Conrad (Emily) Jurk, Mrs. Edwin (Sally) Meyer and Mrs. R.E. (Sonya) Carson, all of Sheboygan; 14 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
Also surviving are three step-sons, Gottlieb, Adam and John Schmidt, all of Sheboygan; one step-daughter, Mrs. Herman Hanschmann of Milwaukee; 12 step-grandchildren; and one half-brother, Henry Herman of Milwaukee/
He was preceded in death by two sons and one brother.
Services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Karl Scholtz, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
