Mr. Betts married Martha Dutton (adopted Krempin) on February 22, 1930 in Wausau.
He owned and operated Home Building Improvements and later worked for Marathon Electric. He was a lay minister; song evangelist; board member and Sunday school teacher at Church of the Nazarene. While a Rhinelander resident, Mr. Betts worked for Larson's Home Improvements and was a guard at Rhinelander Paper Co.
He is survived by his wife Martha; six sons: Edward of Chattanooga, TN; Alec-Jones Jr. and David, both of Schofield, WI; Theodore of Wausau, WI; Douglas of Big Harbor, WA and Roger of Aniwa, WI;
five daughters: Alice Zimmerman and Kathleen Brucie, both of Spanaway, WA; Ellen Baker; Mrs. Bernhardt (Carolyn) Stuhr and Mrs. Douglas (Lois) Simonson, all of Wausau, WI;
45 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday in Wausau.
