Josiah and Mary La Follett's son Marion died in 1852 he was initially buried on the hillside in sight of the family home in Primrose Township, Dane Co., WI. When Josiah died in 1856 he was buried in Green's Prairie Cemetery in Postville, Green Co., WI. Mary wanted her son buried with his father so the boy's coffin was taken from the grave and brought into the house and opened. It was said that when the child's face was first seen it was perfect as if asleep. While they were looking it fell into ashes. The father and son were taken to Green's Prairie and placed together in one grave.

After Mary died Josiah's bones were removed and taken to Madison for reburial beside his wife (see discussion for Josiah La Follett).

Because the body of Marion La Follette was already reduced to ashes when buried in Green's Prairie, and only Josiah's bones were moved for reburial in Madison, it is assumed that Marion's remains are still interned in Green's Prairie Cemetery.
