Delbert Potrykus, 81, of Deford, died March 10, 2016 in McLaren Flint. He was born June 10, 1934, in Hamtramck to Joseph J. and Michaelena "Mae" (Janicki) Potrykus.

Delbert served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was a Korean War Veteran. After the service, he worked for New Haven Foundry, St. Clair Rubber and in 1961 he began with Fraser Grinding, where he continued to work for over 30 years until his retirement. Delbert enjoyed carpentry and was an avid bowler. He proudly bowled his first 300 game at age 72.

Delbert is survived by his children: Del Merrill Potrykus of Clinton Township, Robert (Sue) Potrykus of North Branch, LeAnne (Ron) Matthews of Lapeer, Michael "Todd" (Dora) Potrykus of Deford, Faith (Lawrence) Giddings of Flint; special friend, Jane Grant of Deford, formerly of Harrisville; grandchildren: Chris Potrykus, Del Potrykus, David Potrykus, James Cooper, Rose Ann Cooper, Tory Glumac, Trela Pohl, Nicholas Potrykus, Tyler Potrykus, Andy Potrykus, Ryan Cummings, Eric Cummings, Michael Potrykus, Zachary Potrykus, Kyle Potrykus, Becky Potrykus, Chad Giddings and Candace Giddings; numerous great grandchildren; sister, Lucille Alderton of California and Idaho; sister-in-law, Louise Potrykus of Lenox. He is preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Roberta L. Potrykus; great granddaughter, Keersten Pohl; brothers: Melvin, Milt, Vern, Joseph and James Potrykus; sister, Marilyn Michrina and Beverly Potrykus.

Funeral services to be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 14, 2016 in Kranz Funeral Home, Cass City, with Pastor Dave Mulder of First United Methodist Church of Marlette officiating. Memorials may be made to the Charity of the Donor's Choice. Military honors under the direction of Cass City VFW Post # 3644. Interment will be in Kingston Cemetery.

Visitation: Sunday, March 13, 2016 from 2-5 p.m., 7-9 p.m
Monday, March 14, 2016 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.
