Ann Acker, age 87, of N4824 Forest Drive, Rib Lake, passed away on Tuesday, November 2 at Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been a patient for less than 1 day.

A funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 6 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Gerard Willger, Father Dennis Meulemans and Deacon Joseph Stefancin being officiates. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Brian, Rick, John, Michael and Christopher Acker, Corey Adams, Cody and Luke Pernsteiner.


Ann was born on March 14, 1923 in Schonau, Bavaria, Germany, to Frank X. and Walburga (Beck) Gobernatz. She was a graduate of Chippewa Falls McDonnell High School, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.

Ann was married on July 21, 1945, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, to Raymond G. Acker. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1999.

During Ann’s High School years she did housekeeping. After school she worked at Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee during WWII for a period of time. In the late 1940’s they moved to the area and the couple farmed in the towns of Greenwood and Goodrich for several years until retirement in 1987. Ann was an avid reader and enjoyed gardening, canning, baking, bird watching, sewing and cross-stitching. She enjoyed most of all spending time with her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford.

She is survived by her children, Dennis Sr. (Nancy), Roy (Judy) and Steven (Wendy), all of Medford, James (Sharon), David (Diane) and Edward (Barb), all of Rib Lake, Michael of Phoenix, Arizona and Douglas (Elizabeth) of Marathon; 4 Daughters: Carol (Timothy) Pernsteiner, Barbara (Charlie) Miller, and Bonnie (Gary) Hebert, all of Medford and Linda (John) Adams of Rib Lake; 33 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren. Ann is also survived by siblings, Mary (Joe) Havey of Fond du Lac, Hildy (Robert) Boor of Athens and Immy Kalmon of Washburn.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank X. and Walburga (Beck) Gobernatz; one daughter, Edith Ann in infancy; 1 Great-Grandson: Jacob Potocnik; one sibling, John Gobernatz.
